The End of Oz and Dorothy Must Die Stories: Volume 3 by Danielle Paige
I'm not even going to apologize even more for how behind I am on everything. But I'm trying. So this is gonna be short.
The Dorothy Must Die series is finally over, although I do feel like Paige left it open for at least more Stories, maybe not another novel. Just as when I read the first one, I devoured The End of Oz in a 24 hour time period. It picks right back up where Yellow Brick War ended with Amy, Madison, and Nox sailing along the yellow brick road. Together, with the help of the Wicked Witches, the flying monkey's, and other Ozians...Ozites?...Dorothy and Glenda's evil rule comes to and end and peace is restored to Oz. Amy is then forced with the unfair decision of staying in Oz but never returning to Kansas, or returning home and never seeing any of her new friends, including Nox, again. Of course, when you have magic from Oz, nothing is forever.
Paige has a writing style that really pulls you in and makes you feel like you're right there in the thick of the action; you can feel everyone's emotions as if they're you're own; you feel the power coursing through you as Amy uses her magic and fights darkness with light. Paige has another book out, Stealing Snow, that I haven't read yet, but I know that with her writing, I'll love it.

The three stories in this volume are:
Order of the Wicked
Dark Side of the Rainbow
The Queen of Oz
Order of the Wicked tells the story of Lanadel and how she came to the Order and then ended up in Ev. Landadel, like almost every other person in Oz, has a sad story to tell, and she uses this sadness against Glinda and her cronies. Because Lanadel isn't a huge part of the DMD series, and is only briefly in The End of Oz, her story was just sort of filler for me.
Rating: 6/10
Dark Side of the Rainbow is told from my beloved Polychrome's point of view, just as Dorothy returned to Oz. Dorothy was very eager to meet Poly, however, once Poly met Dorothy, she could have done without. During this time, Poly begins to worry about Ozma, as she has just taken the blast of magic that killed Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. It also tells the story of Poly and Brite, which I just loved them as a couple. RIP Polychrome and Heathcliff.

The Queen of Oz is the story of Pete and Mombi living isolated in the mountains. Pete annoys me. I haven't like him since he sold out Amy to Glinda in the first book. I know that Mombi was purposely cold towards him because she knew his true identity, but all he does is bitch and moan. However, Pete does fall in love, or at least lust, for the first time in this story, and that softened me towards him Maybe I would have liked Pete more if he had followed Jasper, since Jasper brought out a non-bitchy version of him. But who knows how the story of Oz would have ended then.

My most favorite volume has always been the first one that told the stories of what the Lion, Scarecrow, and Tinman did in the months/years between Dorothy leaving and returning, but I like learning about the lives of the other characters that we meet, not only throughout the DMD series, but also L. Frank Baum's Oz's series.
